ML King Welcomes Kyle Gilbert to Lead the Boys Lacrosse Program
King High School’s Athletic Director Amanda Chann is excited to announce to the community that Kyle Gilbert has been tapped to lead the boys Lacrosse program.
Kyle is no stranger to the King High program as he has served as the boys JV head coach for two years and the Offensive Coordinator at the varsity level. He has also coached many of the King athletes in the Riverside Revolution club lacrosse team.
An athlete or involved in sports for most of his life, Gilbert graduated from Snake River High School in Southeaster Idaho in 1996. While there, he played football and wrestled and was an Individual Idaho State Champion in wrestling his senior year after finishing 2nd his Junior year. It was a powerhouse senior year for Gilbert as he helped lead the school’s football squad to a State title that year as well.
He matriculated to BYU where he wrestled for two seasons. Gilbert earned his Business degree there in Utah and then moved to Southern California where he earned an MBA from Cal Baptist in 2007, residing in Riverside ever since.
Gilbert has been a part of the King program almost from its inception 5 years ago and so he has witnessed first-hand the steady rise of the team from an obscure beginning to being able to compete at a high level in that short span of time. Twice the Wolves have reached the CIF semifinals.
“We have some good players on this team that I expect to be standouts,” Gilbert said recently. “Our goal is to win league by defeating Santiago for the first time. We aim to take the program all the way to a CIF title.
Gilbert married his wife Anya in 2000 and together they are the parents of three kids, two sons and a daughter. His oldest son Brayden played four years in the King program and is now attending BYU. Logan (class of ’26) plays on the King lacrosse team and their daughter Hannah is at college in Milwaukee WI at Milwaukee School of Engineering studying Architectural Engineering and playing volleyball.
