Andrew (Nelly) Nelson is a senior Mid Field / Attack on our Lacrosse team.  He has been on the team for all 4 years , and I have had the opportunity to coach him the entire time he has played at King.
Over the years Nelly has shown great leadership and character.  I have seen him many times helping the younger athletes in our program.  Whether it be learning how to catch and throw a lacrosse ball, or how to run a particular play.  He is frequently assisting others in their development.  He is the athlete that when asked to do something his response is “yes coach” and then he proceeds to do what I ask him to do for the team.  Unfortunately he had to spend significant time away from lacrosse as he was injured with a broken collar bone.  During his rehabilitation he continued to come to practice, and attend the games to support the team. He did this so he could be caught up on what the team was implementing while on the field so when he was healthy he would be ready to rejoin us.  I am sure it was hard for him to come and not compete, but he was ready when he did return and made an impact for our team.  One thing that has always stood out to me is Nelly’s 100% effort.  He is not the biggest athlete on the field, but he definitely has no fear and will go up against any competitor, sometimes running circles around them.  He has been and will continue to be a valuable person in our program, and in the community.  I proudly make Andrew Nelson our profile in character for the King High Boys Lacrosse program.
